This particular breed stands out due to its vibrant coloration and striking patterns, which include a blend of fiery hues and prominent blue bar markings along its sides. The term “Hypo” refers to its hypomelanistic nature, indicating a reduced melanin presence that results in a lighter and more vivid coloration compared to standard bearded dragons.
One of the most remarkable features of the Hypo Inferno Blue Bar Bearded Dragon is its coloration. The “Inferno” aspect of its name hints at the intense, fiery colors that can range from bright oranges and reds to deep yellows. These colors, combined with the “blue bar” markings, which are horizontal blue stripes running down the sides of its body, create a truly mesmerizing visual effect. This unique color pattern not only makes the Hypo Inferno Blue Bar Bearded Dragon aesthetically appealing but also distinguishes it from other bearded dragon morphs.
In addition to its stunning appearance, the Hypo Inferno Blue Bar Bearded Dragon is known for its docile and friendly nature, making it an excellent choice for both novice and experienced reptile keepers. Its popularity among reptile enthusiasts can be attributed to its manageable size, ease of care, and the engaging personality that bearded dragons are known for. These dragons are generally hardy and adapt well to captivity, provided their specific care requirements are met, which further enhances their appeal.
The Hypo Inferno Blue Bar Bearded Dragon’s combination of vivid coloration, unique markings, and gentle temperament makes it a standout choice for anyone looking to add a striking and personable reptile to their collection. Its distinct characteristics not only provide aesthetic pleasure but also offer a rewarding experience for those dedicated to its care.
Origins and Genetics
The Hypo Inferno Blue Bar Bearded Dragon is a unique and captivating reptile, known for its striking appearance and specific genetic traits. The journey to creating this distinctive morph starts with understanding the origins and the intricate breeding processes involved. The Hypo Inferno Blue Bar morph is the result of meticulous selective breeding, aimed at enhancing particular genetic characteristics.
The term “Hypo” refers to hypomelanism, a genetic trait characterized by a reduction in melanin production. This results in a lighter, more vibrant coloration compared to standard bearded dragons. Breeding for hypomelanism requires pairing dragons that carry the hypomelanistic gene, ensuring that the offspring inherit this desirable trait.
The “Inferno” aspect of the name pertains to the dragon’s intense, fiery coloration. Achieving this vivid hue involves selective breeding of dragons that exhibit strong red and orange tones. Breeders carefully select and pair dragons over multiple generations to amplify these colors, resulting in the striking Inferno morph.
One of the most distinguishing features of the Hypo Inferno Blue Bar Bearded Dragon is the “Blue Bar” trait. This characteristic is marked by blue stripes or bars across the dragon’s body, providing a sharp contrast to its fiery background. The blue bar trait is another result of selective breeding, focusing on dragons that display this unique pattern.
Selective breeding is a critical component in developing the Hypo Inferno Blue Bar Bearded Dragon. Breeders with extensive knowledge and experience play a crucial role in this process. They must understand the complex genetics involved and make informed decisions to achieve the desired outcomes. Over the years, dedicated breeders have worked tirelessly to refine and perfect this morph, contributing significantly to its popularity and availability today.
In conclusion, the Hypo Inferno Blue Bar Bearded Dragon is a product of careful and deliberate breeding practices. The combination of hypomelanistic, inferno, and blue bar traits showcases the remarkable potential of genetic manipulation in creating extraordinary morphs. The dedication and expertise of breeders have been instrumental in bringing this stunning reptile to enthusiasts around the world.
Physical Appearance and Coloration
The Hypo Inferno Blue Bar Bearded Dragon is renowned for its striking and vivid coloration, making it a highly sought-after morph among reptile enthusiasts. This bearded dragon morph is characterized by a vibrant palette that includes rich reds, fiery oranges, and striking blue bars, creating a visually captivating contrast. The “Hypo” trait, short for hypomelanism, is a genetic trait resulting in reduced melanin, which further enhances the dragon’s bright coloration by diminishing the presence of darker pigments.
One of the most distinguishing features of the Hypo Inferno Blue Bar Bearded Dragon is its bright and varied hues. The red and orange tones are typically more pronounced along the dragon’s back and sides, while the blue bars—often found on the sides and limbs—add a unique touch that distinguishes this morph from others. The hypo trait also contributes to the dragon’s lighter nails and clearer eyes, which are devoid of the typical dark pigmentation found in other bearded dragons.
In terms of size, the Hypo Inferno Blue Bar Bearded Dragon conforms to the typical dimensions of bearded dragons. Adults usually measure between 18 to 24 inches in length, with males generally being slightly larger than females. They possess a robust and muscular body structure, which is essential for their active lifestyle and hunting behavior. Their broad and triangular heads, adorned with spiny scales, give them a distinctive and somewhat prehistoric appearance.
Another unique physical characteristic of this morph is the smoothness of their scales, particularly in comparison to other bearded dragon varieties. This smoother texture can make them more pleasant to handle and touch. Additionally, the reduced melanin in hypomelanistic dragons often results in a more translucent appearance of the skin, especially noticeable in younger dragons.
Overall, the Hypo Inferno Blue Bar Bearded Dragon’s combination of vivid coloration, unique hypo traits, and standard bearded dragon size and structure makes it a fascinating and visually stunning addition to any reptile collection.
Behavior and Temperament
The Hypo Inferno Blue Bar Bearded Dragon is renowned for its distinctive appearance and equally remarkable temperament. Generally, these reptiles exhibit a calm and docile demeanor, making them an excellent choice for both novice and experienced reptile enthusiasts. Their activity levels can vary based on age and environment; younger dragons tend to be more energetic and curious, while adults often display a more relaxed and sedentary lifestyle. Providing an enriched habitat with ample climbing opportunities and hiding spots can help stimulate their natural inquisitiveness and maintain an active lifestyle.
Social behavior in Hypo Inferno Blue Bar Bearded Dragons is relatively straightforward. While they are not inherently social creatures like some mammals, they can develop a level of comfort and trust with their human caregivers over time. Regular interaction is key to fostering a positive relationship. Gentle handling from a young age helps them acclimate to human presence, reducing stress and promoting a sense of security. It is advisable to start with short, calm sessions and gradually increase the duration as the dragon becomes more comfortable.
Interaction with their environment is another critical aspect of their behavior. Hypo Inferno Blue Bar Bearded Dragons are known to be territorial. Providing a spacious enclosure with distinct zones for basking, hiding, and feeding will help them feel secure and reduce any potential stress. Additionally, maintaining a consistent routine for feeding and cleaning can contribute to their overall well-being.
When it comes to handling these reptiles, it is important to approach them calmly and confidently. Supporting their body fully, particularly the abdomen and tail, ensures they feel secure. Avoid sudden movements and loud noises, as these can startle them and cause unnecessary stress. Consistent, gentle interaction will help in socializing them effectively, ensuring they remain calm and manageable.
Habitat and Enclosure Requirements
Creating an ideal habitat for a Hypo Inferno Blue Bar Bearded Dragon is crucial for its health and well-being. The enclosure should be spacious enough to allow for natural behaviors, with a minimum tank size of 40 gallons for juveniles and 75 to 120 gallons for adults. This space ensures the dragon can move freely and explore its environment.
Heating and lighting are essential components of the enclosure. Bearded dragons require a basking spot with temperatures ranging from 95°F to 105°F, while the cooler side of the tank should be maintained between 75°F and 85°F. This temperature gradient is vital for their thermoregulation. Use a high-quality basking lamp to create the necessary heat, and replace bulbs regularly to maintain consistent temperatures.
UVB lighting is another critical element for the health of a Hypo Inferno Blue Bar Bearded Dragon. UVB rays help in the synthesis of Vitamin D3, which is necessary for calcium absorption. Without adequate UVB exposure, dragons can develop metabolic bone disease, a serious health concern. A 10-12% UVB bulb should be placed within 12 inches of the basking area and should be replaced every six months to ensure effectiveness.
The substrate in the enclosure should be safe and easy to clean. Options like reptile carpet, paper towels, or tile are recommended to prevent impaction, a condition caused by ingesting loose substrates like sand. Additionally, providing various decor elements such as rocks, branches, and hides can create a stimulating environment. These items not only offer enrichment but also give the dragon a sense of security and places to climb or bask.
Maintaining a clean and well-ventilated enclosure is also important. Regular cleaning routines and spot checks can prevent the buildup of bacteria and parasites. By carefully setting up and maintaining the habitat, owners can ensure a healthy and fulfilling life for their Hypo Inferno Blue Bar Bearded Dragon.
Diet and Nutrition
The Hypo Inferno Blue Bar Bearded Dragon, like other bearded dragons, requires a well-balanced diet to ensure optimum health and longevity. Their dietary needs are diverse and should include a mix of live insects, vegetables, and occasional fruits. This balance is crucial for providing the necessary nutrients and preventing any dietary deficiencies.
Live insects such as crickets, mealworms, and dubia roaches form a significant part of the diet for juvenile dragons, accounting for approximately 70% of their food intake. As they mature, the proportion of live insects should decrease to around 30-50%, with the remaining portion made up of vegetables. Vegetables such as collard greens, mustard greens, and dandelion greens are excellent choices, providing essential vitamins and minerals.
Fruits should be offered sparingly, as they are high in sugar and can lead to health issues if consumed in excess. Suitable fruits include berries, melons, and small pieces of apple or pear. It is important to chop these fruits into manageable pieces to avoid choking hazards.
Feeding schedules should be adapted based on the age of the dragon. Juvenile dragons typically require feeding once or twice daily, while adults can be fed every other day. Portion sizes should be appropriate to the dragon’s size, ensuring they can consume the food comfortably within 10-15 minutes.
Dietary supplements are essential for the Hypo Inferno Blue Bar Bearded Dragon. Calcium powder should be dusted on their food several times a week to prevent metabolic bone disease. Additionally, a multivitamin supplement should be provided once a week to cover any nutritional gaps.
Potential dietary issues can arise from an imbalanced diet. Over-reliance on insects can lead to obesity and other health problems, while insufficient vegetables can result in vitamin deficiencies. To avoid these issues, maintain a consistent feeding schedule, offer a variety of foods, and regularly monitor the dragon’s health and weight.
Health and Common Issues
The Hypo Inferno Blue Bar Bearded Dragon, like other reptiles, is susceptible to various health issues that owners should be vigilant about. Understanding these common ailments and recognizing early signs can significantly enhance the quality of life for these remarkable creatures.
One prevalent condition among bearded dragons is Metabolic Bone Disease (MBD), caused primarily by inadequate calcium intake or improper UVB lighting. Symptoms include lethargy, swollen limbs, and deformities in the spine or jaw. Preventative measures involve ensuring a balanced diet rich in calcium and vitamin D3, along with providing appropriate UVB lighting for 10-12 hours daily.
Parasites, both internal and external, are another common issue. Internal parasites like coccidia and pinworms can cause weight loss, diarrhea, and a lack of appetite. Regular fecal tests by a veterinarian are essential for early detection and treatment. External parasites such as mites can be identified by excessive scratching and visible tiny black or red spots on the dragon’s skin. Maintaining a clean habitat and regular skin inspections can help prevent infestations.
Respiratory infections are also a concern for the Hypo Inferno Blue Bar Bearded Dragon, often resulting from improper humidity levels or a cold environment. Symptoms include wheezing, mucus discharge from the nose or mouth, and labored breathing. Ensuring the habitat maintains a warm basking area and an overall balanced humidity level can prevent respiratory issues. If symptoms appear, immediate veterinary care is crucial as untreated infections can escalate quickly.
In addition to these common ailments, owners should watch for signs of impaction, a condition where the digestive tract is blocked by indigestible materials, often caused by substrate ingestion or inappropriate foods. Symptoms include lack of appetite, bloating, and inability to defecate. Preventative measures include providing proper substrate and a diet appropriate for bearded dragons.
Regular veterinary check-ups, a well-maintained habitat, and a proper diet are key to preventing many health issues in the Hypo Inferno Blue Bar Bearded Dragon. Being proactive and informed can ensure these captivating reptiles lead healthy and thriving lives.
Breeding and Reproduction
The breeding and reproduction process of the Hypo Inferno Blue Bar Bearded Dragon is a meticulous endeavor that requires thorough understanding and careful execution. Successful breeding starts with an understanding of the mating behavior. Typically, the mating season for bearded dragons occurs in the spring. Males exhibit courtship behaviors such as head-bobbing, beard flaring, and arm-waving to attract females. It is essential to ensure that both the male and female are healthy and of appropriate age and size for breeding to avoid complications.
Once mating has occurred, the female will begin to develop eggs. It is crucial to provide a suitable nesting environment as she will lay her eggs approximately 4 to 6 weeks after mating. A lay box filled with moist substrate such as vermiculite or sand is ideal for egg-laying. The female will dig a burrow and deposit her eggs, typically between 15 to 30 eggs per clutch.
Upon laying, the eggs should be carefully collected and placed in an incubator set to a temperature between 82 to 86 degrees Fahrenheit, with humidity levels maintained at around 75%. The incubation period lasts approximately 55 to 75 days. Consistent monitoring is essential to ensure the eggs remain viable throughout this period.
Hatching is an exciting yet delicate phase. As the eggs near the end of the incubation period, they will begin to dimple and collapse slightly. Hatchlings will emerge using an egg tooth to break through the shell. It is advisable not to interfere with this natural process. Once hatched, the young bearded dragons should be provided with a controlled environment that includes proper lighting, temperature, and diet to ensure their health and growth.
Breeding Hypo Inferno Blue Bar Bearded Dragons also involves understanding the genetics to maintain the integrity of the morph. It is important to pair dragons with compatible genetic backgrounds to avoid undesirable traits and health issues. Reputable breeders emphasize the importance of genetic diversity and ethical breeding practices to sustain the quality and health of future generations.

I was provided with great service, I ordered a Big Dragon. He arrived in healthy condition with heat packs newspaper the inside of the box was very warm and well packaged. They even provided helpful information about having the reptile held at the shipping center because it was 39 degrees out today and the passing between multiple trucks could get pretty cold. He arrived right on schedule like the website says. I dont write reviews but I saw so many bad reviews I had to post this. From my experience this is a trustworthy site and I would buy again if I had to.

Flawless experience
After ordering a Dragon from this company, I’m very confused by the slew of negative reviews. Every question I had was answered promptly, thoroughly, and very politely. The animal had a wonderful temperament and seemed perfectly healthy. Every aspect of my experience was as good or better than I’d hoped. It’s possible that some of their supplies aren’t so good, but my experience was excellent. I wasn’t given any incentive to write this review and I usually never leave reviews on my online purchases, but I was just genuinely really happy with this company’s work.

On a side note. I was a little concerned about ordering a beardie from y’all based on all of the bad reviews I saw about your company. Y’all should really start a campaign to improve your online reputation.

Picked up my beautiful Hypo Zero Bearded Dragon this morning. Cutest thing ever, it shipped and got here right away. I had no problems doing business with this company and I’m looking forward to many more.
The only problem I had was at the FedEx center where I watched the guy tilt and shake my package, I had to proceed and tell him there was a live animal in there, after reading reviews after receiving my beardie friend, maybe it isn’t Sunsets fault as to why some of these customers are receiving dead creatures, but the way the package is being handle at these distribution centers.
A big bold sign that says “live animal” on the packaging would hopefully reduce the risk of such fragile creatures being hurt or even killed.
Anyways thank you so much again, my kids are absolutely amazed by the little baby, and we can’t wait to watch it grow.

I took the chance and was extremely happy with what I got. Originally I was just getting 3 lizards. Was told that normally they do not ship to my location but would fill my order. Well I decided that I was gonna make shipping worth it. Ordered another 3. It is very difficult to have things shipped to my location $$$$. They arrived about a week later. Cold on my end. They look great. They Looked to have been well fed and clean. One was not moving but I figured it would perk up once warm. And that one was the first to eat for me. We went back and forth emailing. Very kind and helpful. I had a really great experience
